This article describes some of the known conflicts FilterPak may have with other software. The conflicts are listed by category.
INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS
- Satellite Modems - FilterPak does not work with many satellite modem ISP's. There is an unverified networking protocol conflict.
Firewall Software Problems
Sometimes a firewall may block FilterPak's connection to the Internet. To resolve the issue, add a rule to the firewall that will permit
Filter7.exe access to the Internet.
For specific instructions, select your firewall from the list.
SOFTWARE PROBLEMS FOR ALL VERSIONS OF WINDOWS
These are known conflicts with the following software.
- Zone Alarm Suite Spam Filter has a winsock LSP conflict with the FilterPak. Upgrade to the newest version of ZoneAlarm to correct the issue or do not use the spam filter.
- Covenant Eyes is not compatible with FilterPak. The only solution is to uninstall Covenant Eyes.
- Windows Firewall only with FTP protocol. FilterPak and Windows Firewall works with all other protocols such as HTTP. This issue is being resolved for a future version. The only recommendation at this time is to use a third-party firewall if one chooses to use a firewall and use FTP.
- Avast Suite only on Windows Vista. These two softwares do not work together and there is no current workaround.
SOFTWARE PROBLEMS FOR WINDOWS VISTA ONLY
These are known conflicts with the following software.
- Norton (Symantec) Internet Security Suite 2007 The Live Update portion of the program does not work. This problem is fixed by uninstalling the FilterPak.
- McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 The portion that updates the software as well as the firewall do not work and may cause Windows to become unstable. To fix the problem uninstall the FilterPak or the McAfee Internet Security Suite.
OLD SOFTWARE PROBLEMS (7.62)
Note These problems pertain to a previous version of FilterPak and not to the latest version. To avoid these issues,
download the new version of FilterPak now.
- SQL Navigator is disrupted by the FilterPak. There is currently no known solution.
- MSN News Alerts are being blocked. This may or may not be fixed by our new patch.
- Webhancer is not compatible with FilterPak. This may or may not be fixed by our new patch.
- New.net Application error arise during installation. Solution is to remove New.net and reinstall it.
- Internet Rocket is not compatible with FilterPak.
- Google Desktop is disrupted by FilterPak. Detailed solution. This may be fixed by the new FilterPak patch.
- Covenant Eyes is not compatible with FilterPak. Solution is to uninstall Covenant Eyes.
- WebDAV is not compatible with FilterPak. Solution is to uninstall WebDAV.
- Quicken Quickbooks Autoupdate now works with FilterPak when patch is applied.
